HM Sultan Brunei Shares Citizens' Joys

DEMONSTRATING concern for the welfare of the people and progress of the country, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday inspected the recently-completed housing scheme area at Kg Panchor (Mengkubau), as well as education institutions and recreational spots as part of his visits across the Brunei-Muara District.
Earlier in the day, some 1,738 housing scheme recipients under the National Housing Scheme (RPN) and Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (STKRJ) in a number of areas in the Brunei-Muara District received their key plaques from His Majesty in a ceremony at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
His Majesty later visited the residence of the Village Head of Kg Pancha Delima and Kg Anggerek Desa, who is also the Acting Village Head for Kg Orang Kaya Besar Imas and Pulaie, Awang Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Awang Ya’akub, where a variety of village consultative council products were on display at booths and toured by the monarch.
Taking a closer look at the development of education institutions in the district, His Majesty spent time interacting with students, teachers and staff to determine what progress the Pulaie Primary School has made, as he toured the schools’ facilities.
His Majesty then proceeded to one of the oldest all-girls school in the country situated in the capital, Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI), and subsequently toured a newly-refurbished recreational park, Tasik Sarubing in Kg Belimbing in Kota Batu.At the picturesque five-acre lake surrounded by a 450-metre jogging track that also extends towards Bukit Markucing and Tasek Lama Recreational Park, His Majesty toured the facilities and took a closer look at some of the surrounding villages’ exhibition of products.
His Majesty later spent time visiting recipients of new houses in Kg Panchor (Mengkubau) including the home of terrace unit owner, Hj Azizul Fadhli bin Hj Ahmad, a married civil servant with one child, who said he has been waiting for the house since 1998 when he first made his application.
“I am so grateful to now have a place I can call my own home for me and my family. Thank you to His Majesty for his generosity and care for the people’s welfare,” he jubilantly said.
Meanwhile, sharing similar sentiments was another terrace unit recipient, Pengiran Anak Rosledzana bin Pengiran Muda Umar Ali, who said he made the housing scheme application 17 years ago.
“Alhamdulillah. My family and I feel very lucky to have been granted this perfect new house and we feel very blessed,” he said, while sharing that he has been renting a home prior to moving in.
He also praised the presence of multi-racial groups in the neighbourhood, saying that this promotes harmony amongst different racial groups in the country.
Another happy couple, recipients of a terrace unit in STKRJ Kg Mata-Mata (Katok ‘B’), Rosli Hj Bungsu and his wife Dk Norhayati, said they are grateful to Allah the Almighty and His Majesty for this blessing.
“We would also like to thank His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Housing Development Department for granting us this wonderful gift of ownership of a house of our very own,” they said.
During the visit to the 4,000-unit Kg Panchor (Mengkubau) National Housing Scheme, His Majesty was seen happily accepting invitations to visit the houses and walk through the streets with his subjects.
Before concluding his visit to a luncheon at the Mangrove Paradise Resort in Kg Sungai Belukut, His Majesty also toured the resort’s facilities, including its new block of chalets and a Surau.
